Question

Is it necessary to reprime a factory primed surface, such as trim, doors etc?

No, if the prime coat is ok and not scratched off.

The only problems I have had is on the interior hollow core paneled doors, each side end (hinged side and striker side) the paint seems to just soak in, so I run kilz on them, sand and paint. But other than that there is no need to re-prime.

I am a perfectionist when it comes to painting also, so I take the extra step.
