blending old paint and new, I goofed!

I decided to do some touching up today and got a little carried away. The exisiting paint on the wall is about 3 years old. I had the original can of paint and used it for my touch ups today. Well, I am now finding that I can obviously SEE where I tried to touch up. Any ideas on how to blend the two paints after the fact? I am wondering if maybe some magic eraser or some sort of "washing" at the seam of the two paints would dull the line a bit and feather them together better? HELP! Debbie

No, there is no easy way to blend it. If the paint quality is low, or it wasn't mixed good enough before the t/u, or it froze at one time, or if the wall has burnished from wear, or its a sheen of some sort, r light has faded areas of it, etc. etc. are all possible reasons it won't match. Easiest way to fix this is cut your losses and paint the whole wall.

Did you do any patching? Aside from filling tiny holes, any patch needs to be primed first. Otherwise you have different absorption rates.
