Question

I have a hutch that is stained with a dark stain (pine finish) and I'd like to lighten it up? What is a good product to use to do this? Also any suggestions on doing this project?? Thanks!

You'll have to sand it. Sorry but that's the only way to remove stain because the stain is actually absorbed by the wood. Once you've sanded the stain out then you can stain it whatever colour you like or even just varnish it. Also you might want to post your question in the furniture refinishing forum maybe you'll get more advice.

After you remove any old finish, you can try to lighten it by scrubbing it with a solution of 8 parts Zip Strip to 1 part household bleach. Sometimes this technique works wonders! Call 1-800-321-9870 for help, they're great with good advice.
