Question exterior painting spray or rolling

I am planning on hiring someone to paint the exterior of my house. At the moment I am looking at 2 different contractors and one uses a sprayer and the other rolls the paint.

My question is which is better spraying or rolling?

It all depends on the job. Rolling will work the paint into the surface better. Spraying usually offers better coverage. Either one can be done neatly or messy. I've sprayed a number of exteriors and never left unwanted overspray. Since painting can be done with spray, roller or brush a wise painter knows which is best for particular job. It is always best to get referances before letting someone work on your house.
