Exterior Wood Trim Paint Problem

Hi,
A bunch of lousy contractors painted the wood trim on my house. Two weeks after they 'completed' the job, some of the knots on the wood that was repaired/installed new is showing through the paint.

What causes this? Just not enough paint? No primer?

Is there a forum where you can 'rate' contractors. I would HATE to have somebody experience what I've gone through.

Thanks

They didn't coat the knots with a "stain sealer" to block the stain from bleeding through the top coat

Unless you have some waiver or clause in the contract, that could be considered a warranty problem (workmanship....like a manufacturer's product can be, and in some places must be, warrantied)

Looks as if they didn't use the proper primer. To prevent knots from bleeding through it is best to use oil base primer. Spot priming with oil base or shellac based primer will stop the bleeding. If the contractor is any count he should come back to fix it.

There is, its called the Better Business Bureau

On the flip side, I would like a forum where I can rate lousy customers. You know, the ones who you can never make happy, no matter what you do, or decide to not pay, for no reason whatsoever, etc. I would hate to have another decent contractor like myself go through what I have gone through before.

As for the knots, spot prime with Zinsser's BIN shellac primer, and recoat the trim, and it will be fine.

WOW!!!!
OK... you, everybody has 'credit' score - and I can you insurance companies 'in essence' give you a claim score...............

So why not a customer expectation score, that rates a person on how unrealistic their expectations are

Things that make you go ...........hmmmmmmmmmm
