Welcome to the forums

Plaster must cure before being painted so it won't hurt to let it set. It has been a long time since I painted any new plaster and I don't remember how long you have to wait but they should know at the paint store.

Depnding on the type of plaster, I thinks its wait 30 or 90 days for cure.
Then it can sit as long as you want until you find time to paint it.
