I have a closet (mirrored) door track that has a slight bit of rust on it. Instead of replacing the entire track (which I would have to special order) I wanted to sand off the rust, prime it and paint it. What kind of top coat should I use. I hav a can of appliancepaint that says it gets very hard and is good for refinishing indoor metal products. Basically I don't want the paint to chip and peel off when the door rolls.

I have a kitchen that has an ugly texture sprayed on paint. Origianlly I wanted to make smooth walls but I've gotten in over my head. I started scraping, then tried paint thinner, sanding, etc. and its taking forever and damaging the drywall paper. I've compounded over the drywall in damaged areas but I'm getting nowhere. I now realize that I don't mind texture, I just hate what's on there. Its been painted with a semi-gloss paint and I think it would be much easier just to texture over it. I'm unsure about how to prep it though. Can I compound over the painted texture, then put a pretty texture on the compound and then paint? Should I prime the wall now before compounding and then prime again over the pretty texture before final paint coat? Use a solvent primer? I will do the ceilings too, as I have removed the popcorn. The ceilings are bare to the drywall and joint compound. Should I prime that too before texturing? Thanks a million to anyone who can help!
