one or two coats
How do you know if you need 1 or 2 coats on aluminum siding? Im going from a lt blue to a beige color. The siding is chalking a little but hasn't been cleaned. Ive been told by one store that I need primer and the other says I dont.
Help please..

Primer isn't usually necessary on aluminum. Removing and/or neutralizing the chalk is!!! First clean the siding well, if all the chaulk hasn't been removed add emulsa bond to the first coat of paint.
I prefer to spray alum siding because it gives it more of a factory look, so I never have coverage issues. Coverage is normally the determining factor on whether you need 1 coat or 2.
