Painting an acrylic bathtub (Is it possible?)

I really don't like the look of my acrylic bathtub. The outside has gotten really dingy looking. Bleach and cleaners don't work.
Also I accidently dripped paint remover on it when I was removing paint off the walls. Looks really rude.

I want to paint it blue. I also want to paint the "ledge" around the tub as well.

Is this possible and what paint should I use? Where would I buy tha paint? Home Depot?

Thank you in advance for your input.

While there are special paints for refinishing tubs/shower enclosers it is rare that a diyer gets a lasting job with them. I'm not very familiar with the products used to coat tubs.

Have you tried a cleaner called 'the works' My wife has gotten amazing results with it on an acrylic surround that I was convinced needed replacement. It also works well when she decides to go to the kids homes and do a better job of cleaning than they do. I think she buys it at the dollar store.
