Have pink, need brown

I have 5gal of pepto bismol pink latex ext paint, and would like to make it a dark brown, or dark reddish brown. Our local homedepot has the universal tint colors in the tube, and was wondering if I could use some of these to acheive the color I'm looking for. Thanks for any help with this.

I'd go talk to someone at an actual paint store about this. Trying to do it by yourself with something you bought in a paint department could end up ruining 5 gallons of paint.

opposites make brown, like red & green. and since pink is light red, adding some sort of dark green "should" make a dark brown color, but i wouldn't attempt it yourself. go to a paint store.

just adding colorant to teh pink may not help. it was probably tinted in white base. if this is the case, then you can not get any dark color, there is simply too much titanium dioxide in it. go to your local paint store and ask them to try to do it. they may charge you a small fee, but not always.

Having the paint store retint it is the best bet. It may be hard to get any paint store other than the one that originally sold the paint to retint it. The main exception would be a paint store you regularly do buisness with.

If you wind up tinting it yourself start by retinting a small amount at a time. That way if you are going the wrong direction you haven't ruined the whole bucket. I often 'doctor' up left over paints for low price rentals [and even my own house ] A lot of time it is easier to get another gallon of a deep tint color to tint your paint with.
