Paint luan? doors

I have interior doors that are luan? with a sheen. There are ridge lines in the door from top to bottom. The doors are beat up so I want to paint them white. How do I fill the ridges to get a smooth painted look? The wood paste filler takes forever to get in all the ridges. Is there a liquid that would fill in and leave a smooth surface? Ideas for application?

Welcome to the diy forums

Usually a good sanding and coating with a quality enamel will fill the majority of the grain. What type of finish is currently on them?
