Garage Floor

The previous owner of our house applied epoxy paint on the garage floor, and now it is all peeling. How do I get this stuff off so I can have a bare concrete floor?

Power washing didn't work.

Thanks

Apply some paint remover, let it set, scrape and then pressure wash.

The name escapes me currently, but it comes in a white can w/ orange lettering. Works great, smells terrible. Basically it will remove epoxy (important, as some strippers will not). As it strips, you can squeege it to another section leave for about 30 min, and move again. Make sure you neutrialize after stripping.

If I can get my brain working, I'll post the name. Call an area SW and ask about it.

Matter of opinion of course but I might consider scraping off as much as possible as was suggested above and then repainting with a better quaility product. That stuff that has the little specs in it looks pretty cool. Just seems to me it would be tons of work to get it back to perfectly clean concrete..

Even if you are able to remove the epoxy finish to bare concrete you will have to do something to protect the floor. Bare concrete wears and stains easily.

My guess is that the PO didn't do a good prep job with the epoxy or he didn't use a quality product.

BIX thats the name of the stripper.

If you want to repaint- remove the old. Acid wash, re-apply a 2 part epoxy.

Best finish with proper prep.

A clear concrete sealer would be nice as well, it will help seal the concrete and keep dusting down.
