Question Painting metal framed bunk beds

I "inherited" a set of bunk beds for free- They are metal (tube style) and in good shape but are bright blue! I want to use them in my girls room and paint them white.
What do I need to do?? The finish is rather glossy now- Do I need to sand them down and prime?
Can this all be done with spray paint??

Yes it should be sanded first! Spraying will give the best finish but it might take awhile with spray cans. Primer may not be necessarry but it may be cheaper/quicker to cover the blue with primer.
