How to Paint Metal Door Frames
I would like to paint some metal door frames. They are presently brown and would like to paint them white. Any suggestions on primer and paint to use.

ok
are there bare areas that you see the metal?
if not-you are not painting metal, you are painting paint.
if no metal then sand with 120, lightly, wipe with varsol and put 2-3 coats of ben moore satin impervo.
priming is not needed. paint stores just want to sell more primer, it is needed in some cases, but not this one.
cheers

how to paint metal door frames.
Door Frames are metal with brown paint on them. This is a commerical building so I assume the door frames came from the factory this way.

Is this new construction?
If so, sand and clean up the frames, coat with a good oil base primer [ a quick dry formula may be benifical] and top coat with 2 coats of quality oil base enamel. Don't forget to sand lightly between coats.
