Painting New Home

I'm getting ready to paint the interior of my new home. The drywall contractor primed the entire house and then sprayed a light texture on the walls and a knockdown texture on the ceilings. Do I need to apply another coat of primer over the texture before I apply the topcoat?

YES!

Priming the texture will both make the top coat look better and be more washable.

Help! Paint Mildew Smell

Help Somebody! I just used some old paint to re-coat my bathroom. Instead of trying to find a new can of the same color, I just used the old paint which had been in my basement for several years. Well, now my bathroom reeks of this awful mildew smell and I cannot get rid of it. Can anyone suggest a way that will get rid of the smell? Other than that the quality and texture of the paint did not change. I know someone out there has an answer.

I have done some wall repairs about three feet by two feet in size. My final paint will be with an oil base paint. Question is do I use a latex or a oil base primer before the final paint is applied? Thanks
