need help with chipped paint

i have an older home - 40s. it has a wood garage door that the paint is chipping off. we have tried strippers and sanders and can't seem to get it off - very thick layers. is there a primer or anything else i can use that will help fill the gaps so the chipped paint isn't so noticable when i repaint?

Welcome to the diy forums!

You can use an exterior spackling or wood filler to fill the low spots, prime and then paint. Be sure whichever product you use it is labeled for exterior use!!!
