Concrete Ceiling!

I have a slab concrete ceiling w/joints every 4'. I had it skimmed w/ joint compound however it just doesn't look good. Wavy and what not; just a bad job. I want to have a professional come in and do it again. Wondering if I should do it this way or sheetrock the ceiling. What's easier? If I rock, do I need to lay studs for a vapor barrier? What should I do and what should I pay? The room size is 420 sq.ft.

Welcome to the forums

Usually these types of ceilings are patched as needed to fill any voids in the poured concrete and then textured. Are the 'waves' in the concrete or the added skim coat?

I don't know if you can attach wood framing to the ceiling to hang drywall from or not. The framing may need to be supported by the walls which might mean an unaceptable loss of ceiling height.
