Can you paint marble?

I have old marble window sills. Rather than remove them is it possible to paint them? What kind of paint will work best?

I have seen some exterior marble window seals that were so weathered I'm sure they would accept paint well BUT imo it would be better to polish them.
Why do you wish to paint the marble?

If you really want to paint the marble, it may work to use a marble sealer and then prime and paint it. You may want to find a manufacturer of sealant, and then ask them for any advice on topcoat.

Inquiring minds want to know - why do you want to paint them?

I would seal them first and then use an epoxy paint. I doubt you really want an epoxy paint on them and still no guarantees it wont chip in a short time.
