How to fix uneven textured paint?

Howdy.

So I applied the first coat of a textured paint (sand finish) to my hallway walls but it came out kind of uneven...clumpy in some areas and smoother in others.

Whats the best way to try and even out my finish? Should I try lightly sanding some of the heavier spots and then re-apply?

I seldom use any texture paints, IMO texture is best achieved prior to painting.

When you apply a texture paint it is very important to apply it evenly! I don't know how well it will sand but that would be a starting point. Otherwise you will need to skim coat over the texture, prime and repaint.

Thanks...it is actually a prime which I need to put a finish coat on after. I'll try a little sanding re-coat and update here
