Remove Paint from Side Shingles?

I have a house with side shingles on the upper 1/3. They are currently painted blue. I would like to remove the paint, and stain them for an original natural shingle look. Is this plausible, or is replacement the better option? The shingles are in very good shape. I just don't want them blue. (and it's an ugly blue, too).

From painted wood to natural stained wood look is hard. I would replace them. You can do most of the staining on the shingles before installed.

While it may be possible, I doubt it would be worth the effort!!! As nagra said it would be better to replace if dead set on natural or stain. Repainting another color would be the cheapest fix.

Replacement is by far the better option
