Painting a table

I have recently completed a table that will be used solely for beer games but have yet to find an appropriate type of alcohol resistant paint or even how to go about it really. Do I need to prime the table first before painting? Does it need a finishing?

Welcome to the forums!

What do you want the finished product to look like?

For paint I'd recomend an oil base enamel undercoater followed by 2 coats of a quality oil base enamel [sand lightly between coats]

Or you could stain [or not] and apply 3 coats of an oil base polyurathane.[again, sand lightly between coats]

The finished table is going to be predominantly purple (being the engineering colour) with a crest in the centre. Whether or not it has a glossy finish is really in the air still. Thanks.

Enamel comes in 3 basic sheens, satin, semi-gloss and gloss. Usually the higher the sheen the easier it will clean up but all quality enamels are washable.

Thanks for your help, I've purchased the colours I need and primed the table. Hopefully it turns out well.
