Paint too thick for spray gun

Yesterday, I tried for the time to use my brand new spray gun to paint a door. It works well for 2 mins and start to throw the paint irregularly.
I open the container and found out the paint was kind of stuck.
I used Behr paint.
Can I add something in the paint to have the job done easily ?

I finally decided to finish with the paint brush

Two problems:
1) The little Wagner DIY-guns really just don't do a very good job. If you really want to spray, renting a professional rig from a paint store is the way to go.
2) Behr paint. It's usually pretty thick and not meant to be sprayed. (In addition to not being particularly good paint to begin with...)

That said, there are usually spraying instructions on the can of paint, specifying tip size and thinning, if any.

I found my answer on behr.com

Do not thin if using a roller or brush; however, if using a sprayer and thinning is required, thin with water at a rate of no more than 1/2 pint per gallon.
Certain colors may require more than one coat for complete hide

A friend at work told me the same thing and it's work pretty well for him.

I just want to use this spray gun for small project. I'm not going to repaint the wall with that. I will do a better job with a simple roller.

Thanks
