painting vinyl walls

I would like to paint the vinyl walls in our doublewide. Does anyone know how I should prepare the surface?

Jana,
I'm not familiar with the vinyl used in a manufactured home, so I can't say for sure what will work.
Try this in an inconspicuous area first.
Wash the walls well. Make sure all soap (or tsp) residue is off. Prime with a zinsser primer such as BIN or Benjamin Moore's "Fresh Start". These primers bond very well to slick surfaces.
Now paint with an acrylic (latex) paint.

The vinyl walls are what we call a "photogenic finish" In order to get proper adhesion to these walls, it is important to scuff sand them a little to provide a profile for bonding primers to stick to, The Fresh Start mentioned by bob is a correct primer for this situation but I would like to add that you should let this product cure for a couple of days to ensure maximum bond to the surface. Finish with what ever you like. http://msnhomepages.talkcity.com/Cla...Ct/nayerpaint/
