Painting Exterior door

I want to paint my two exterior doors. Can I use the can that I already have with interior trim/door paint? What is the difference between exterior and interior paint?

If you mean you want to paint the outside..you need to use an exterior paint. Its designed to resist the weather and sun...interior paint is not formulated the same.

If you want to paint the inside surface..you could use the paint you have.

Flexibility is one difference, exterior paints are softer and more flexible for structural movement and expansion / contraction with temperature changes and extremes.

Fungicides/mildewcides are another difference. Exterior products contain these and interior products either contain little or none(?).

Colorants - some manufacturers have "interior red" or "interior yellow" universal colorants that go only in interior paint, because they will fade too much if used outside.

It would also be good to know what type of paint is currently on the doors. It wouldn't be a good idea to apply exterior latex paint over fairly sound oil base enamel.
