Thumbs up

In response a few post ago about a guy who was wondering if painting over the wallpaper
because it was attached on the sheetrock and
would be sure to tear when taken off...
welllllllll....we just encountered this
very thing, when taking down some very
old wallpaper..parts of the sheetrock
did come off in both small spots and large
ones...we decided to paint the entire room
with a primer...then put one coat of
Dover White on that, then choose to SPONGE
paint with our main colors,,,,,Ashe Rose
being the lighter base color and then
accented it with the next darkest color
on that color strip ( I cant remember the
name of that second paint....We did the
exact same thing in our hallway (Dover white,
then BauHau Buff, then the next darkest
color on that strip (all paint was from
Sherwin Williams) Both rooms turned out
wonderful..you cant tell at all where
there were bumpy spots in the wall or
tears....A great alternative for a fraction
of the cost vs replacing all that sheetrock...
Then we accented with dried floweres, etc..
a border on both top and bottom....
The hallway border came from Dollor General
for 1$ a roll....(when looking for a
bathroom border, I saw the EXACT thing
at a larg home decorating store for 8.99
per roll!!!!!!!!! I knew then I got a GREAT
DEAL !!!!

Hope that this helps another doit yourselfer!

DEE DEE: I know that you must have done this but you did not mention putting First Coat over the sheetrock where the paper had come off. First Coat seals the sheetrock, so it does not suck the moisture out of your paint. When the moisture comes out of your paint, it falls off the walls. I know a thorough person like you did not forget this did you.
