We have wallpaper and ceiling paper that has been painted over throughout our house. The walls are plaster, and we are uncertain how many coats of paint or how many layers of wallpaper there are(we think that there is only one layer of wallpaper). Any advice on how to remove the paper?

You have one of the toughest problems to deal with.I live in the antebellum south and see this everyday. There is nothing to do but start on a small area and see what you will have when stripped. As for the stripping, you will probably start with a scraper to see if some or all will come off.At this point you may need to go to a liquid stripper mixed with water and sprayed on.If walls are large a bug sprayer makes it painless. The only other thing you may use to help is a perforator. If no perforator is available, scoring the walls with a razor in X patterns is very helpful to allow water to penetrate.Let the stripper do the work allowing 10-20 minutes soak time.Repeat until it comes off.If you have further questions post back under these replies.I'll be watching.Good luck.....Mike
