Solid Stains over previously painted
#1

We are repainting our 260 year old antique home. Prepping has been painful since there are 20 or more layers of lead and non-lead paint. It has been scraped and sanded but still has a good deal of old paint on it. I was given a product by a local vendor that touts being able to go over previously painted wood. It is a solid color oil stain made by Siikens. I'm looking for feedback or experience with this product.

I dont have experience with this brand of stain but do have a couple of questions. Is it not true that IF this stain will bond well,by the time you have the paint covered you will have a solid,I assume brown, color.Does this stain tout to grain as you go?If not,it seems to me that a person would be better served to prime correctly and proceed with some sort of simple graining process. This way given the vast amount of work involved you can be sure not to have debonding problems.
