Question

We live on the plains in Colorado Springs in a shingled ranch style home desperately in need of exterior painting. We frequently have high winds, bright sun, and of course, chilling cold in the winter. I have had a couple of estimates with similar prices. However, some use a spray technique with brush/roller on the trim and others use only brush/roller. One recommends a "super paint" and one recommends a vinyl paint. Of course, each claim their technique is the best. We can't seem to find an answer and am hopeful someone can give us some advice. Also, if anyone can provide some information regarding what the appropriate preparation work should be, we would also appreciate that. Anxiously awaiting a response!!

Use the following steps: powerwash house, let dry for 1 week, scrape away all flaking and chipping paint, sand entire house with 60 grit sandpaper, remove sand dust, check for correct moisture level in wood, prime entire house with alkyd oil primer, paint with a good latex paint, and a second coat. That's all!!!
