Cool

I am getting ready to paint my kitchen cabinets and wood paneling. They are both dark. I realize that I have to use a primer, clean and lightly sand both the cabinets and the paneling. Is there any other important information I Should consider? Can you suggest a certain type of paint for these jobs? I am getting conflicting information from the local home improvement stores.
Secondly, I have considered painting the cabinets white. However, I have am concerned about the dirt and grime. Is there another color that would be used that would be better? Where do I find info about painting techniques such as antiquing or overcoating and rubbing the finish of the cabinets?
Thanks,

Clean all surfaces with TSP, scuff lightly with #120 sandpaper, prime with ZINZER 1-2-3, two coats paint with a quality latex or oil based paint.
