I want to sponge a bathroom wall, this will be my first. Do you have to use the glaze paint or can you simply thin regular latex paint to use as your finish coat? What is the purpose of the glaze?

Forget the glaze paint....use flat on your wall first. All the colors you sponge on use a eggshell or soft gloss paint. If you want to make it all come together, go over all with the glaze as your last step in the process. Good Luck!!

I've done rag rolling, sponging, and ragging techniques all without a glaze, and all with good effects. I would suggest a finish over the paint for your bathroom, though, since it gets a lot of moisture.
