I am in process of repainting some metal garden chairs. I have scraped off and hand sanded those areas where the paint had begun to peel. I did a "test" spot with a primer, however the outline of the removed paint still shows. Should I use a chemical stripper? If so, which is the best? Or, would an electric sander do the trick?

Cool

Depending upon how many chairs you have to work on, you can use chemical strippers. It is hard to sand out spots where paint has flaked off, but it can be done. I once had a 13-piece set of metal deck furniture sandblasted, primed, and spray painted with automotive paint and clearcoat. Now, all I do is use matching automotive touchup spray paint to keep it looking great. Just an idea. Good Luck!
