Question

I have kitchen cupboard doors which have been previously painted, and then varnished. Do I need to strip the surfaces to repaint or is sanding and priming enough? And/or is there a product I could apply which would adhere to the varnish and can be painted on?
Also, thanks for the info. on name brands versus store brands, I'm buying paint tomorrow. FYI, I've used Behr and not found it to be durable.
Thanks for the help, Tam.

No need to strip, if the finish is in satisfactory condition. Clean any grease etc off, sand lightly, prime with a quality primer, sand lightly and paint. Be sure to remove all sanding dusts with tack cloths before re-coating.

Quality paint is one of the keys to a good paint job, as is quality tools. Consult the pro paint store of your choice for there brand of primer that will suit your needs.
