I would wipe it with paint thinner, sand it lightly with a 220 grit paper and prime it with BMP (bare metal primer) which you can purchase at Sherwin Williams or Ben. Moore. Then paint.
What is the best way to prep exterior siding (T-111)? The existing paint is peeling in some places but not to an extreme. If I pressure wash it, how long should I wait before putting an oil based primer?

We have new wide plank pine boards that we will be using as our finished flooring. We would like to leave some of these natural (water based polyurethane only), some we want to stain with a transparent color and some we want to stain just to bring out the grain. Do you have advice on what type of stain to use?
We want to keep the wood from getting too dark (either form stain or from aging).
Is there a web site that has finishing information for wood?Read More
