Question

I am having wrought iron railing installed. Of course it wil be painted by the installer before it is installed. I've seen ARMORPOXY brand of one-part epoxy coating on the web (www.armorpoxy.com). Any opinions on applying this as a "second coat" while the iron is new to possibly better protect the metal and lengthen the time before re-painting is required? It is expensive at almost $50 per gallon.... Am I wasting my time and money?

If it looks good I would leave it alone, ask the installer to touch up any scratches, etc. or for some of the paint to touch up yourself.
