removing wallpaper then painting wall

i will be removing wall paper from a wall then painting. after removing the wall paper how should i prepare the wall for the paint. Is there a certain amount of waiting time in between preparing the wall and then applying the paint?

lhoermann@chubb.com, After you get to the wall there will be adhesive left on the wall and if painted as is will bleed through discoloring the new paint. This is the way I wash a wall for painting. Covering the floor 2 feet from the wall with plastic is helpful. Mist the wall with water sprayed from a garden sprayer. Repeat every 5-10 minutes until adhesive will shave off with a 6-10 inch drywall knife or washes off easily with a sponge. Wash one final time with clean water and let dry a day before painting......Mike

I did the same thing! But the wall can't be
painted, its too rough! Wash it and seal it?
Prime It? Sand It? Thanks!
