How to blend new drywall with existing when it comes to painting?
We had to replace a large section of drywall right in the centre of a wall in our living room and I was wondering what the best techique would be to blend the new drywall into the old so it you don't see the sanded drywall mud lines. Everytime I have patched a part of the old drywall and painted over it, you can see where the new drywall is by the sanded mud, so I am hoping there is a better technique to hide this.

Has the wall been textured or does it just have roller stipple from paint on it?
It can be difficult to replicate many coats of rolled on paint. One option is to thin down some joint compound to paint consitinecy and roll it on. If it looks decent when dry - prime it. If the texture is too heavy, sand it lightly before priming.
