crackled appliance epoxy

After painting my range with appliance epoxy (it had dried for ~ 4 hrs.), I noticed a small scratch. So, I sprayed some more paint to repair the scratch and all of a sudden the paint began to crackle. Now, what I originally thought was a great paint job, looks horrible. How can I repair my (bad) repair?

Welcome to the forums!

Some coatings have a specfic recoat window, it sounds like you went past that time. The only real fix is to sand it back smooth and start over

Thanks, Marksr. That's what I was hoping to avoid. How long should I wait to sand it and repair?

The paint label should give you a good indication of the curing time, maybe 72 hrs. The only real problem with sanding too soon is it may plug up your sandpaper quicker

If I'm not mistaken, the Rustoleum Appliance paint cans say to either recoat within 1 hour, or after 1 week. So there is a long period of time in between where you should NOT recoat.

My wife did the same thing once, and I think I had to wait a week, sand it down as best as I could and give it one heavy coat.
