Need Advice
I used Behr Premium Plus Ceiling Paint on my new kitchen ceiling. One coat wasn't enough and 2 coats was no better. For some reason, it came out very blotchy; looks flat in some sections and bubbly in others. Don't know if it was bad primer, a bad roller or bad paint. I bought another brand and tried again, with poor results. I've never had a problem painting a ceiling before. What should I do to get rid of the blotches?

Welcome to the forums!
You need to tell us a little more about the ceiling. Is it new? [you mentioned primer] drywall? plaster? Was it clean before the primer was applied? Is the ceiling slick or textured? What size roller cover did you use? Could you better explain about the bubbles?
Sorry for all the questions but we need to know what went wrong before we'll know the best way to fix it.

the ceiling was new drywall and I painted with latex primer that was leftover from another room; it was a few months old but seemed to go on ok. I primed about a week before painting with the Behr ceiling paint. The first paint roller I used was 3/8 nap and labeled for use with primers or first coats. What I called "bubbles" could also be described as clusters of tiny bumps.

Would the blotches/bubbles show up in a pic? Have you ruled out a defect in the drywall finishing?

I'd probably sand the ceiling and apply another coat of paint with a 1/2" nap roller. Apply the paint liberally and smooth it out with a light touch on the roller. You don't want to try and squeeze all the paint out of the roller.
btw - IMO oil base kilz is overkill as a primer for new drywall and there are better latex primers to choose from than latex kilz.

Better results are often obtained with paint from a paint store instead of the paint department in a big store
What was the second paint you used?
