Painting baseboards

I just installed laminate flooring in a living room in my home and I was wondering what the opinions of others was in colors to paint the baseboards.

I might be thinking about this too much. The laminate flooring is "glentown oak" Is there any basic rules about choosing what color to paint your baseboards/walls with "wood" floors?

Welcome to the forums!

IMO the base boards should always be painted/stained the same color as the the rest of the woodwork - door casings, windows, etc.

If you are painting and not staining there is a lot to be said about something in the white spectrum. It's traditional, looks good, goes with just about any wall color and won't make a prospective buyer cringe if you decide to sell.

I agree, a well maintained white or white-ish baseboard looks incredibly clean, and really does go with just about anything.

If you aren't planning on selling any time soon though I say don't worry about fashion rules or design rules, and pick a color that you enjoy. I realize that isn't what you were looking to hear but that's my opinion.
