Best primer to use

I need to do some skim coating of a lousy dryall job which is painted with latex. After I do the skim coat and sand and smooth the work, which is the best primer to use for another coat of latex paint?

Many thanks in advance....

Most any decent latex primer will do. You'll find your better paints and primer at your local paint store. They can suggested the best primer for whatever top coat you choose. A big box might carry some of Zinnser's primer but you'd need to read the label to see if it's one of the ones suited for new drywall. Most paint depts carry coatings based on price not quality

Yep, get your paint from a paint store and use whatever primer they recommend for the paint
