Long Basement Wall needs Two Dif Colors, how should I transition?

We have a long wall in our basement that goes from the den to the family room. We want the den to be one color and the family room another, but there isn't a good place to trasition the colors. We were thinking of putting a trim board going vertical to break it up, but want to explore other options if possible.
Would love to hear suggestions!

and pictures are a major Plus!!

The best place to change colours on a wall is at an interior corner. Since there aren't any, I'd just paint that one long wall one colour (either the colour of the den or the family room) and then just paint the other walls at each end of that room as per your original game plan.

Ya, changing colors mid wall rarely looks good I'd either go with one of the existing colors or choose an accent color that would go good with both rooms.

btw - welcome to the forums!

What are the colors, are they very different? If they look OK together (in both rooms),
some graphic solution may be an idea. Most simple would be a horizontal clear line, but the line can be more playful - either in a wave, blocks, the silhouette of a city, trees furniture or lighting poles - even with 2 colors and sharp lining the possibilities are endless (the simpler, the better)
What's the style of your design?

I believe the only way to get a nice-looking transition between colors is to change at a corner of some kind. The very last resort I would recommend is the vertical trim piece you suggested, but it usually just won't look right (it will look like you needed to install the trim in order to change colors, which really detracts from the look). I would just paint the long wall something that works in both rooms.
