I have a black four poster bed that I want to refinish with a antigue copper/bronze color. I would appreciate any input on what would be the best way to go about getting this accomplished.

thanks Matt

Strip the bed with a methylene chloride based stripper and be careful. You'll need a respirator ( $40 or so ), chemical gloves ( $20 ), a stripping tin to catch the waste and a ton of rags. Proper disposal will be around $40 depending on where you live.
Neutralize the surface with denatured alcohol ( $5 a gal.), let dry, scuff with #0000 fine steel wool ($2),(spray) prime with metal alkyd primer - $7, top coat (spray) with the color of your choice. Enjoy a job well done. Over and out.......
