We recently added a deck (uncovered)to the side of our house. We stained the floor using a solid color stain, but it's not exactly the look I want. You can still see the wood grain and it's flat. Can we use something over the stain to get more of a "solid" color with a shine to it. We used latex products.

Stain is meant to show the grain of the wood. Your just changing the color not the texture. Why don't you try using a paint meant for wood floors. If you want shiny check out satin, semi-gloss and gloss.

HTurner, Try another coat of the solid stain. If you still have grain it must be due it being raised and that will not change without sanding which would make that deck very slick. Look into a marine finish designed for floor use to get the sheen like you want....Mike
