Can I use a light purple as primer?

I was wanting a very light gray color for my walls and when I got home the color looked more like a very light purple on my walls. Since I cannot return the paint, I was wondering if it's possible to use it as a primer for my other room which I plan on painting also. The walls for the other room are brown & will need a primer anyway? Will this work? The color is almost white, but does have a purple tint to it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!

While finish paint doesn't work as a primer, it can be used for the 1st coat. It doesn't sound like your brown room needs a primer but rather 2 coats of paint to cover. As long as the paint you pick for those walls will cover the light purple, it's ok to use it for the 1st coat.
