Restaining wooden wall
I have 2 rooms that were stained "brown" many years ago. Adjacent to leaded glass windows there has been condensation that has essentially "removed the color ", is the best way I know how to say it.
I need to sand and restain these areas but am sure there are multiple shades of brown available. Any suggestions on the best way to do this?
Thank you.

There are probably more brown stains than all other colors put together.
Getting a stain color chart will help. They usually give 2 examples for each stain, 1 on pine and the other on oak. If you could remove a piece of trim, you could take it to your local paint store for advice.
Doctoring up weathered wood isn't the easiest job around. It helps if you can sand it back to clean wood but often those areas won't take stain the same as it did originally. I normally sand it down and then decide whether to use stain or tint some poly/varnish to 'paint' it where it looks acceptable.
