I preped paneling for painting up to and including the primer approximately a year ago. Now that I have finally decided on a colour for the rooom what fresh prep do I need to do? vaccum the walls? wash? new coat of primer? or can I go ahead and paint?

Also, how do I get old masking tape off the trim?

You might want to do a light sanding with a fine grit and then use a tact cloth to remove any dust. Then go ahead and paint. As for the tape, try Goo Gone. It takes labals off so tape should be no different.

Thumbs up

Agreed, also caulking the joints, trim, and corners will make a nicer looking job, after sanding and wipeing off dust, use a paintable latex caulk wipeing smooth with a wet finger and wipeing any excess or mess with a damp rag.
