CHB Paint?

Hey guys, I'm interested to hear your opinion on Sherwin Williams CHB paint.
I've been using Behr and Glidden paint on the ceilings of the house I'm currently painting, and I'm hardly impressed with some of the results. I've read reviews about CHB being a great ceiling paint, particularly because it's a dead flat paint, it covers well, and is relatively cheap.

How much does a gallon run at a contractor's price?

While I've used a lot of SWP coatings over the yrs, I don't recall ever hearing of CHB paint. A quick search of their web site didn't reveal anything either

I don't know how all the SWP stores operate but my regional stores have different discounts for different contractors. Instead of a set percentage off, they give you great pricing on the coatings you use regularly and a smaller discount on the coatings you just use occasionally. I don't know why, just that's how they do it locally.

If you are a painting contractor and have an account with SWP - it's easy to find out your pricing. They tend not to give discounts to retail customers although I have know them to give a homeowner a discount if the job was big enough [like building a new house and doing the painting yourself]

Personally I don't care much for ceiling paints, I've always had better results with wall paint on the ceiling. SWP's ProMar 200 is normally my 1st choice for ceilings. I've not used enough Behr coatings to have much of an opinion other than they don't have the greatest reputation. I have used a good amount of Glidden coatings. There cheap stuff [normally stocked at HD] isn't fit to use [like any cheap paint] but they have a lot of great coatings. You'll have to got to a ICC or Glidden store to find them.

CHB is just CHEAP flat paint. It is sold in my area for cheap. As long as you don't put anything but flat or low sheen over it you can use it as a primer (as they sell it to my customers) but eggshell or shinnier will flash. And CHB means "Chicago Home Builders" not Contractor High Build.

"CHB is just CHEAP flat paint." - then I'd use any/all excuse not to use it

Great...thanks for the responses. I spoke to a rep at Sherwin Williams here in NY and the guy said he'd never heard of it. It must be a regional product only sold in the Midwest. I was just curious about it because some of the members of another forum I'm on had a lot of positives to say about it. I'll try SW Masterhide or ProMar 200 instead.
