Silicone is Silicone?

This may be a stupid question but here goes.

They sell "Silicone Caulk" and "Silicone Sealant". What is the difference? Is it the same thing?

They also sell "Kitchen and Bath Silicone Sealant" and "Doors and Windows Silicone Sealant". Again what is the difference?

Are all these products truly different or the same thing?

My intended use varies.

I need it for windows, and I also need to do some baths.

So I was wondering if I need to buy 3 tubes of this, 4 tubes of that, and 2 tubes of that...or if it doesn't really matter, I might just get a dozen of the same thing and not worry about running out of one type versus another.

If you plan to paint over the caulk, make sure the label on the silicone says that it is paintable, because not all silicone is. (without the right primer).

They have different uses. Window and door is more UV resistant and possibly paintable. Kitchen and bath is more mildew resistant...etc, etc.

Best to buy what you need for each use.
