It's time to repaint the exterior of my house. I tried different colors in photoshop but could not find a scheme I like. Here are some samples:

Is there a professional designer who can help me choose color and maybe even prescribe decorative elements to the outside of the house to make the house look nicer? For example, in newer constructions non functioning window shutters are often added next to windows and usually painted a different color than the wall and the trims.

For inside the house there are interior designers, but for outside, is there "exterior designer", or do I have to hire an architect which would be overkill and cost a lot?

 

I worked with many interior designers that also spec'd the exterior colors. You might try driving around looking at other house colors for ideas. Also most paint stores have brochures that picture colors they think go together.

Thanks for your response. I have driven around and look at other houses. That is when I noticed new houses sometimes have 3 colors (field, trim, and highlight), which I like. I also found two other houses that look similar to mine. I don't like their paint schemes.

I have also visited paint makers' web site and played with painting visualizers, and looked at paint color schemes. Although paint schemes look good on a demo house, they don't like good when applied to my house. I think it has to do with the structure of my house. That is why I'm looking for professional help -- someone who is not just expert at color schemes, but also exterior design and decorative remodeling (e.g. fake window shutters, bricks facade, etc).

 

You might inquire with some of your local interior designers, many but not all also work with the exterior.
