Painting over existing paint on outside house siding

If I want to repaint the wood siding on the outside of my home , can I just start painting over the existing paint or is there some other pre-paint steps I need to take?

Depends on what condition it's in.
If there no peeling paint, missing caulking, caulking then it just needs to be cleaned before painting.

Also if there is any chalk on the siding after it's cleaned you'll need to either apply an oil base primer or add Flood's EmulsaBond to the first coat of latex paint.

I'm building a loft bed for my daughters birthday, and I'm to the point where I'm ready to assemble the 4 pieces together. My question is should I prime the bare wood before I assemble it. Or after it is assembled? Or does it really matter? :confused:

Hi, I want to paint my name on a plastic trash bin. I thought of printing it in large letters on paper, cutting the letters, gluing the paper to the bin with white glu and after it dries, sand the exposed area slightly and spray paint or use oil paint and brush. Since white glue doesn't stick strongly to plastic, I can remove the paper easily. Is this a good approach? will the white glue hold the paint from going under the paper? Any other option that is easy enough?
